Scotland: The Hunt for Ness

Off we go to merry land, to my last tour of Europe as an undergraduate, accompanied by Hui Min! It was quite a short tour (13th ~~ 16th June), but we managed to pack quite a lot of activities into it.

Day 2: Fantastic view of Edinburgh Castle. The military tattoo is held on its grounds yearly

Yay! Us on Arthur's seat. We were taking photographs of each other and then this kind American old couple came along and offered to take a photo of us. Then she fussed over my camera trying to get a good shot of us. Thank you so much!

Calton Hill from Arthur's seat (with a 10x zoom camera *grin*) Both Arthur's seat and Calton hills were formed millions of years ago during to the landscape movement resulting from a volcanoic eruption.

The man of the hour. Every evening from 1800 this man would be playing the traditional bagpipes on the Princes Street Gardens. Hm and I don't think he is the 'real' piper used during the military tattoo. He should have earned his big bucks from his show every August.. don't think he needs to buck for more.

Day 3: Off we go on a tour to the highlands of Scotland. We had a chatty bus driver who talked and talked throughout the trip. Half of the stuff he said was pretty informative, and we actually learnt quite a bit of Scottish history from him. However, he have this low, booming voice that seems to be made deeper by the mike, and after a while (especially when we wanted to sleep), it became a lil' irritating =P

Ness finally appears! Nah, thats its statue outside the hotel that named itself Ness, but fittingly cos I think that's the only hotel sitting off Loch (Lake) Ness.

We took a lake cruise along Loch Ness. Although the cruise was pretty pricely, I have to agree with my tour guide that this is probably the best view of Loch Ness and Castle Urq.... all we need is Ness to rear its head to make me famous.


Somehow the monster that scared the dumb witts out of the poor villagers of the past has now become a national icon cum tourist magnet.

Day 4: The last day of the trip. Took a photo of the symbolic street of the old town of Edinburgh, which was where we stayed at. This road leads down from the Castle of Edinburgh all through to the Palace of the Queen.

Ok that more or less sums up an enjoyable 4 days well spent.
