London Games 2005 : My tribute to the floorball team
19th March: London games 2005. Despite my unpleasent encounter with a totally irresponsible charge of the games, that didn't dampen the hunger of my newly built up floorball team in winning the tournament.
First round, round robin.
ICSS 11 - 1 LSESS
ICSS 16 - 8 UCLSS
ICSS 10 - 6 KCLSS
With that result, we progressed into the finals, to face LSESS again. To give credit.. and I really mean lots of credit to them, they started the games with some of them not having touched the floorball stick before, and not having played together before. But as we watched them play game by game, the rate at which they got used to each other's playing position, the rate at which they improve was simply astonishing. I dunno everyones names, but basically, well done Lawrence, Mingwei, Wailam and team =)
Finals: ICSS 9 - 6 LSESS
Throughout the game, Kailun and me didn't really play much.. to think of it, I only played 2 thirds of the 12 thirds which we played. Most of the players were beginners.. and the whole aim of floorball is to have fun, so we held back a little.
To my team: Well done =) Great skills, great grit and great playing.
Cherie: What can I say about our top goalscorer from NYU? Thanks a lot for coming, thanks for playing, and its great to have known, and played with you!
Kailun: Star player from hell. I wonder how much destruction you can manage with your weaving in and out of the defence. It will take a wall to stop you.
Sebastian: Rock solid and overflowing with confidence. Star defender who loves running circles around.. no not the opponent, but our own goalposts =P
Yaoyang: Da man! With you and Kailun supporting Sebas at the back, I think the Centers and the forwards dun even need to backtrack to defend. Steady!
Jerome: Mr nice! How come you are so nice to your opponents? Show them your dazzling skills man haha... its really amazing to see you turn and twist the ball around the opponents' legs..
Sean: Super fast winger down the right... or issit left? Doesn't matter! Haven't seen you play seriously before until today.. and that translated to a hull of goals.. Woah~
Tzern: Our Malaysian representative for Imperial! Steady winger, defend, attack, defend, attack.. don't you ever get tired? Try your Ronaldo skills if we have more space!
Changyong: One handed stick man. Your right arm must be darn powerful now man. How in the world did you manage to run round and round the opponents with just one hand on the stick?
Chongwai: Squash striker! Squash training translated into killer shots with the floorball stick once you curb the swing swing.. haa... Duracell bunny for my team. Fantastic!
Thanks a lot guys! You just made me feel that my floorball comeback since MooseMan days worth it!
Subnote: My floorball stick is still lost in translation. The least Royal mail could do for me now is to make sure that it arrives safely.
